Pune : The final round of the second season of the UBS Athletics Kids Cup, organized by DS Powerparts and conducted by Kinder Sports LLP, concluded with great enthusiasm. Young athletes including Riddhi Deshmukh, Nihar Kalbhor, Devanshi Hangarge, Malhar Khire, Maurya Jarande, Shivendra Jadhav, Shreya Bankar, Aarav Jagdale, Hisha Choudhar, Arun Gond, Swarup Bhujbal, Prachiti Chavan, Arnav Shivgan, Pradnya Kamble and Lokendra Kami secured top honours in their respective age groups.
The competition was held at the Savitribai Phule Pune University Sports Ground, featuring events such as the 60 metres sprint, long jump and ball throw. Earlier, regional qualifying rounds conducted in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad received an overwhelming response from schools across the district. From the competitions held at Baburao Sanas Ground and Sant Dnyaneshwar Stadium, Pimpri, as many as 500 athletes qualified for the grand finale.
In the Under-7 girls category, Riddhi Deshmukh of Aryans World School won the title, while Nihar Kalbhor of MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul World School emerged champion in the Under-7 boys category. Shreya Bankar of Aryans World School claimed the Under-8 girls title, while Aarav Jagdale of Sinhgad Springdale School topped the Under-8 boys category.
Devanshi Hangarge of Sarhad School secured first place in the Under-9 girls category, while Malhar Khire of City Pride School won the Under-9 boys title. In the Under-10 girls category, Maurya Jarande of Nalanda English Medium School emerged victorious, while Shivendra Jadhav of City Pride School clinched the Under-10 boys title.
The winners were felicitated with medals, certificates and attractive prizes. The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Prof. Dr. Parag Kalkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University; Raj Deshmukh; Ashwin Trimal, Founder of Truespace; Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte; Mathias Schacke, Country Head – Group Operations, UBS; and Daniel Schenkar, Chief Executive Officer, DS Powerparts. Nikhil Ladda, Ananya Naidu and Avantika Ghosh were also present on the occasion.
