
Pune : ISMS group of Institutions were excited to host a grand welcome ceremony for the students and faculties from Leeds Beckett University’s Carnegie School of Sports. Charlie Connor, Dr.Alison Clare Welsh faculty members along with Ms. Jayshree Raghuram, Regional Manager, South Asia and Kabindra Lama, Global Engagement officer at Leeds Beckett University were present at the event.
The students of ISMS Group of Institutions showcased a vibrant glimpse of India through their presentation and dance performances highlighting the food, festivals, traditional attire and business significance of different regions accompanied by colourful and lively performances that emphasized the rich and diverse heritage of the country followed by a sumptuous lunch presenting Maharashtrian cuisines. In the second part of the day, the guests were taken on a campus tour by ISMS students who shared about their experiences and memories of college life while networking with their UK peers. In the evening, they were introduced to the famous Dhol Tasha of Maharashtra. The students joyfully enjoyed the Dhol Tasha, danced to the energetic tunes and even tried few moves with their ISMS peers.
The second day began with a city tour to experience the historical and cultural richness of Pune city along with enjoying mouth-watering local cuisines at Hotel Shreyas. The students also visited Shaniwar Wada, Lal Mahal, Dagduseth Ganpati,Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari and Mandai.
On the third day students were taken to a sports facility the PDMBA- Badminton Hall at Shivajinagar. During the visit, sports psychologist Ms. Gayatri Vartak guided the students and emphasised the importance of mental training in sports in enhancing performance. According to her, success in sports depends not only on physical fitness but equally on mental preparedness. Sports psychology includes both therapeutic and preventive aspects and focuses on managing pressure, fear, confidence, concentration, and performance-related mental skills. She also cited examples of legendary sportspersons Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali, highlighting that even the greatest athletes practise consistently to perform under pressure.
On the occasion, PDMBA Joint Secretary Mr. Anand Joshi shared information about the many prominent badminton players nurtured in Pune, as well as the international referees and officials from the city. He also elaborated on the role of PDMBA and how it systematically works towards developing players and officials.
Speaking on the success of two days student mobility program Ms.Shalini Banerjee, Founder and Executive Director,ISMS Group of Institutions expressed her happiness at the meaningful cross-cultural exposure gained by both ISMS and Leeds Beckett University students helping them to become thorough professionals in future.
